MindSet Instructor Certification
The chosen instructor candidate will have the capacity, resources, and necessary materials to certify others within their organization in the MindSet Curriculum. This certification will remain valid for a period of one year.

The Foundations course prepares participants to become certified MindSet Foundations Instructors, qualified to deliver the curriculum within their organizations safely and with fidelity.
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
- Apply MindSet’s core principles and proactive strategies to foster a Culture of Prevention.
- Recognize escalating stress and use effective communication, de-escalation, and crisis-prevention strategies.
- Apply proactive strategies to prevent behavioral escalation and potential crises.
- Demonstrate safe contact-avoidance techniques.
- Facilitate MindSet training, model and coach skills, and assess participant competency while maintaining curriculum fidelity and safety protocols.
Certification requires full participation in the two-day Foundations course (Modules 1–4) and successful completion of both assessments:
- Written Assessment: An 11-question exam requiring a score of 100%. Multiple attempts are permitted within the allotted 60-minute assessment period.
- Performance Assessment: Correct and independent demonstration of all skills on the MindSet Foundations Instructor Certification Skills Checklist. Opportunities for practice, coaching, and corrective feedback are provided before assessment.
Continuing education units (CEUs) are awarded upon successful completion, if applicable.
The Complete Course prepares participants to become certified MindSet Complete Course Instructors, qualified to deliver the curriculum within their organizations safely and with fidelity.
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
- Apply MindSet’s core principles and proactive strategies to foster a Culture of Prevention.
- Recognize escalating stress and use effective communication, de-escalation, and crisis-prevention strategies.
- Apply proactive strategies to prevent behavioral escalation and potential crises.
- Demonstrate safe contact-avoidance techniques.
- Determine when physical intervention is appropriate and demonstrate authorized release and containment techniques.
- Apply physical intervention safety protocols, recognize associated risks and signs of physical distress, and respond appropriately.
- Facilitate MindSet training, model and coach skills, and assess participant competency while maintaining curriculum fidelity and safety protocols.
Certification requires full participation in the two-day Complete Course (Modules 1–6) and successful completion of both assessments:
- Written Assessment: A 16-question exam requiring a score of 100%. Multiple attempts are permitted within the allotted 75-minute assessment period.
- Performance Assessment: Correct and independent demonstration of all skills on the MindSet Complete Course Instructor Certification Skills Checklist. Opportunities for practice, coaching, and corrective feedback are provided before assessment.
Continuing education units (CEUs) are awarded upon successful completion, if applicable.

Recertification reinforces the knowledge and skills required to deliver MindSet training safely and effectively. The course reviews the learning objectives from initial certification, emphasizing:
- Application of MindSet’s core principles, prevention strategies, stress regulation, and de-escalation practices.
- Review of authorized techniques, safety protocols, and post-incident debriefing.
- Effective facilitation, skills modeling, corrective coaching, and competency assessment.
- Maintaining curriculum fidelity and incorporating updates to authorized content, techniques, and procedures.
Participants are encouraged to review the learning objectives in their Trainer Manual before attending.
Recertification requires full participation in the applicable course and successful completion of both assessments.
Course Duration:
- Foundations: Half-day recertification
- Complete Course: Full-day recertification
Required Assessments:
- Written Assessment: An exam covering the applicable Foundations or Complete Course curriculum, requiring a score of 100%. Multiple attempts are permitted within the allotted assessment period (60 minutes for Foundations or 75 minutes for Complete Course).
- Performance Assessment: Correct and independent demonstration of all skills on the applicable MindSet Instructor Certification Skills Checklist. Opportunities for practice, coaching, and corrective feedback are provided before assessment.

MindSet Specialized Programs
Firstly, our comprehensive safety management curriculum now includes the Mindset Trauma Responsive Model Classroom (MTRMC). This program is designed to address the daily challenges teachers face in classroom management by integrating trauma-responsive philosophies, effective practices, positive behavior supports, and restorative approaches. It aims to create a nurturing learning environment that fosters connections, promotes belonging, and builds resilience among students, facilitating their social, emotional, and academic growth.
Secondly, we offer robust training and certification programs that equip educators with essential skills in behavioral practices across educational support tiers. These programs emphasize coaching core competencies and strategies for behavior identification and intervention. Once certified, professionals are empowered to support their school communities independently, enhancing school climate and retention through a unified approach to behavioral management and crisis prevention.
