With more than 25 years of experience in the field, Shanun is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral (BCBA-D) with a PhD in Disability Disciplines and extensive clinical expertise supporting people with severe and complex challenging behavior. Her career has spanned direct clinical practice, higher education, organizational leadership, and executive oversight across complex health and human service systems. She is also the founder and principal consultant of Rooted Aspen, where she helps organizations align their values, leadership, and everyday systems so that meaningful change can take root and last.
Shanun was drawn to MindSet because it treats prevention, dignity, and compassion as foundational rather than secondary to crisis response. She believes MindSet offers far more than a training program: it provides a framework for creating cultures in which people slow down, remain curious, understand behavior in context, and respond in ways that preserve safety and humanity. She especially values MindSet’s adaptability and its potential to become embedded in an organization’s unique culture, strengthening how people support not only those they serve, but also one another.
